Blustery Day

My aunt is obsessed with Winnie the Pooh.  Said aunt doesn't read the blog, but that's okay.  She doesn't have internet at her house. {gasp}.  I know.  As I was saying, my aunt loves Winnie the Pooh and always has for as long as I can remember.  So forgive me for thinking of her today.

"Oh, then I think I shall wish everyone a happy 'Winds Day.'"
-Winnie the Pooh

While known for more notable quotes, I couldn't help but think of him as I sit typing a blog post this 'Winds Day' afternoon {Wednesday for all of you geniuses} sipping hot cocoa with a puppy dog at my side watching the snow fall blissfully around painting the most beautiful picture of God's creation.  {Isn't she precious?}

Now many of you know I'm sick to death of winter weather snow.  But something about being in Starkville {yes, I'm in Starkville} watching God's handy workmanship fall on his most glorious town in the world....what could be better.  Glad I made it here safely.  I hear my hubby has many inches at our house in Memphis.  He was able to go home from work around 2pm so it must be rather awful.  My evening plans have been canceled so here I sit, updating you and updating the blog.

Our house:

First thing you'll notice...yes, the blog has received a make over!  I'm not sold 100% on the new owls just yet, but I do like the vintage theme that it now wears.  We'll see how long I like it keep it.

This blog post will be many random things that I feel the need to share with you.  One of my friends had a catchy title called "popcorn" for hers once and perhaps, this too could be appropriately titled such.  Maybe I'll see if there is any popcorn in the cabinets.  Unfortunately, I think we're limited to bread and crackers.  Dry Cheerios anyone?  Back to popcorn!

I'll start by telling you about mine and my hubby's fun filled weekend last weekend.  It seems lately that I update you on weekend fun in the middle of the week and then it's time for more weekend fun.  Don't get too excited.  This coming weekend we'll be playing catch up in Memphis, and I think our list of exciting things ranges from purchasing a mattress for the guest bedroom and a shower head to conserve water.  The Adams are so green!  HA!  Needless to say, there probably won't be a life update this weekend.  Unless you care to hear about our vacuuming skills as I'm sure much cleaning awaits me when I return home

Saturday we made the long trek to Jackson, MS. Lacey included. Okay, so it's not terribly long, but it is a borrrriiiinnnng drive!  The reason? One of my very good friends Laura is getting married this summer, and someone was throwing a partay to celebrate it!  And you know we just can't pass up a good party!  Especially since we never have parties anymore because we live in Memphis where we don't know anyone!  Anyway, my good friend Laura is engaged to David.  And yes, before you ask, it gets VERY confusing when we talk about David respectively.  You should have seen my texts to her asking what David should wear to this party.  I simply say "my David" now and "your David" to clarify.  So the party was for my Laura and her David. Haha!  I was so lucky to have Laura as a bridesmaid in June, and now I can't wait to be HER bridesmaid this June.  Laura met her David a week before our wedding {see, if I had said she met David a week before our wedding you would have thought she had never met my David until right before the wedding--very confusing}.  He asked her to hang out the weekend of our wedding, and she turned him down {all together now...awww}.  Not because she wanted to though!  No, she was such a good bridesmaid that she chose to attend our shindig in Starkville.  Thanks Laura!  But that David is a persistent fellow {her David, not mine...err mine is too! :)}.  Luckily, he didn't give up because Laura was obligated to wedding duties.  Laura, I promise that if I meet a guy the week before your wedding, I'll still be at your wedding, standing up next to you, and amening your decision before God and your family & friends.  Wait...  This doesn't apply to me! Haha!  I have a WONDERFUL man who I love so much!  And he'll be at your wedding too.  I'm sorry if he stares at me the whole time instead of you.  Don't take it personally.  He is after all, MY David.  Plus, you'll have another David staring at you anyway.  And judging from experience, you won't know who is in attendance anyway so I doubt you notice.  And if I was at home in Memphis, I'd pop out my nifty DVD of wedding pictures and show you a picture of my friend Laura standing up at my wedding with me.  Instead, you get this one of us.  She's right over my right shoulder, and the only bridesmaid without sunglasses on.  For some reason, my bridesmaids thought it would be funny to wear shades while they sang "Shades."  Laura, I can't wait to sing this to you, and David, MY David would tell you this is the most awkward part of your wedding reception, as I'm sure any Chi Omega's husband would also.

I love Laura!  She is so fun!  And her engagement party was just that!  All joking aside, I couldn't be happier for Laura and David.  They are so perfect for each other, and I can't wait to see how God blesses and uses the two of them for His glory.  Laura has a cool blog if you're interested in reading about all of her wedding planning.  The following are a few photos we took from the night.  We grabbed all of the Chi Omegas and took a picture. However, my hubby likes to take pictures of us preparing to take the picture.  And they always turn out funny and rather embarrassing of me, but I thought I'd post them anyway.

Me, Brittany, Laura, and Josie

I'm not really sure about this one, but besides the fact it's kind of embarrassing for all of us, I love Britt's facial expression!

Adding Laura's sis Rachey to our corny XO pic. Throw what ya know! {yes, I just said that}
Being with some of my Chi O friends Saturday night really made me miss all of us.  Sure we weren't all there, but just hanging out with some of them brings back the best memories with all of them.  Today, I drove by the XO house with the snow falling down.  I couldn't get to my camera, but I wish I had.  It just flooded my memories of some of my favorite times on the porch of this house.  So I found a few pictures with these girls on this very porch.  Some of the best memories a girl could have.

My very first time on the Chi O porch from 2004 Bid Day with Beth and Megs.

I'm not sure why Brit and I have this tradition, but every year she would take a picture like this on the porch at Christmastime.  And every year we'd take one in front of the Christmas tree.  I can't think of the porch at the Chi O house without thinking of this memory.

Formal our senior year.  One of the most fun nights ever, and I know you two would agree!  Started with a great dinner, fun dancing (in the future location of my rehearsal dinner), and ended with Waffle House. I wish we'd realized how little time there was left for us all to live together. So glad we made such great memories.

While not on the porch of the XO house, this is Meg and I at Rachel (Laura's sis') bid day. So it's appropriate that we watched from the sidewalk.  We were waiting on Laura or she would have been in the picture.  So fun to be standing on the outside jealous excited for Rachel!

And finally, porch talks with Beth.  We would do this frequently.  In fact, if we had a bad day or needed a relaxing night, Beth and I would sit on the porch and just talk.  Sometimes there were tears. Sometimes there were random Wicked songs sang at the top of our lungs for sorority row to hear.  Sometimes there were dates to discuss and sometimes we were waiting on dates.  I'm so thankful for this porch swing and this best friend.  I would not have made it through college without you.  And I wouldn't have made it through last semester without you.

Enough "popcorn posting" for today!  It's past my bedtime!  Rest assure, I have lots more things to share with you...eventually.  A bunch of you have asked for more inexpensive house projects and for photos of our house.  I do have more inexpensive house projects for you, but I don't have photos of them quite yet.  And as far as photos of our house goes, I've been waiting until it was exactly how I wanted it to take photos and post them.  However, I have since realized, my house will never be exactly like I want it to be!  I'll always be adding or taking away (probably more adding at this stage of our life).  I actually just flipped through all of the photos I have and none of them look exactly like our house looks now.  Not. One.  And I'm NOT exaggerating!  Maybe I'll do that this weekend.  Just maybe!

Hope everyone has great snow days tomorrow!  Let me know your thoughts about the new blog!  I really do love comments you non-commenter people!  Feedback makes me smile and blog more! :)
